Let's Be Real: Prayer That Changes You
Matthew 26:36-46

When you read the Bible, you will read that Jesus prayed alone in a quiet place usually early in the morning. Prayer is a conversation between God and you.

Matthew 6:5-6 ESV
[5]  “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. [6] But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

It is easy to pray differently in the presence of others. Instead, we should be honest when we pray. Genuine prayer happens more easily when we are by ourselves. We are less inclined to say things that we think others want to hear.

Real counseling happens only when we are completely honest. It is the same when we pray. We must be honest and share absolutely everything with him.

We also need to listen to God's voice. Prayer is not casting wishes and having faith God will grant it. When Jesus prayed, it was a conversation with God. We need to discover what God wants to tell us.

If God already knows what we need or want, why should we pray? This question shows that the person asking does not understand their relationship with God. We need to understand that God is our lord, and we are His servants. Only by listening intently and being genuine can we discover God's love.

Matthew 26:42, 46 ESV
[42] Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”
[46] Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”

Prayer is the moment we discover what God's love is. Prayer will change us. Probably not our circumstances but it give us confidence, clarity, and understanding .

Prayer allows us to discover how much God loves us.
