Message: Rom. 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being
witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God,
through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is
no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over
the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time
His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has
faith in Jesus.

The
keyword in this piece of scripture is propitiation.
1. Salvation for all sinners
(as many as will believe)
Rom. 3:21 21 But now the
righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law
and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus
Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is no difference;
§ Righteousness apart from
the Law
Ø The sacrifice for sinners
and all creation
1 John 4:10 10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son
to be the propitiation for our sins;
1 John 2:2
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but
also for the whole world.
2. Forgiveness for
Christians (“If you confess…”)
§ Forgiveness for believers
Ø The Righteous Advocate
1 John 2:1-2 2
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And
if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours
only but also for the whole world.
3. Reason for our boldness
Rom. 3:26 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be
just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Ø The
demonstration of His righteousness
Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Ø Proverbs 28:1
1The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Questions:
1. Who
can receive the salvation of God according to the Scripture?
2. How
is salvation received?
3. How
is justification connected to salvation?
4. Any
difference between salvation and forgiveness??
