I. Thanksgiving in God’s Presence (Vs 1-2)
ii. Thanksgiving in God’s Providence (Vs. 3)
iii. Thanksgiving in God’s Palace (Vs. 4-5)
It is important to approach God with joy. We need to show our joy as well.
Psalm 100:1 ESV
[1] Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
We serve God with gladness. We sing because it is a natural expression of our joy and thankfulness to God.
Psalm 100:2 ESV
[2] Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing.
[2] Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing.
Church is not a place you bring your sadness into the church. The moment you enter into God's presence, you feel joy.
Psalm 16:11 ESV
[11] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
[11] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
We also need to give thanksgiving in God's Providence.
Psalm 100:3 ESV
[3] Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
[3] Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
God made us and gives us everything. In fact, God has made everything and controls all things. God's providence is His foresight, care and control. When we give thanks to God, we understand and admit that God is in control. God is working for our good.
God has fashioned us for a specific purpose and will not abandon us until that purpose is done.
God has fashioned us for a specific purpose and will not abandon us until that purpose is done.
The third point is important because thanksgiving in God's palace is needed in prayer. Thanksgiving is the way to open the gates of Heaven
Psalm 100:4 ESV
[4] Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
[4] Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
We must begin our prayers with praise to God. God is our Lord and deserves our respect and the honors deserved by God. The storeroom of God is available but you will not enter it until you give praise. Genuine praise and true thankfulness will come out when we our attitude is right and we understand all things the come from God are good. The happy and sad times, the times of plenty and lack are all meant to help us draw closer to God.
Psalm 100:5 ESV
[5] For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
[5] For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
God's steadfast love is His mercy. God has put us here
