 A Joy That Doesn't Stay Inside
Luke 1:51-53

All over the world, people celebrate Christmas. You can see people of all ages start to look happier as Christmas comes closer. Perhaps it is because they do not have to work that day or there are special foods and gifts of the season. However, the joy to the world is proclaimed in the Bible.

Mary proclaimed great joy at the coming of Christ.

Luke 1:51-53 ESV
[51]  He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
[52]  he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate;
[53] he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

She also had great faith in God and sacrificed herself to the world. At the time God asked Mary for open hands and an open heart. This is what Christmas is about. Open hands to receive God's blessing and gift of salvation but also the open heart to have faith and love God and others. We, like Mary, need to offer ourselves to others and to expand God's kingdom.

We cannot keep this joy to ourselves. We need to share this love with others in words and deeds.
