Message: How Can a Young Man Keep His Way
Pure?
Grounding Scripture(s): Psalms 119:9-16
Introduction
We are in a day
and age where evil and godlessness are on the increase in every society.
Sometimes even Christians are overwhelmed by these phenomena. Temptation is
everywhere. The world is doing everything to our senses only and not our spirit
so as to turn us away from God. But
thanks be to God who covers with His Loving Presence: Where shall I go from
your Spirit? “Or where shall I flee from your presence? If
I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are
there!” Psalm 139:7.
God has provided a way of escape for this
generation!

Message: How Can a Young Man Keep His Way Pure?
Based on today’s
message let us consider the following two questions are sharing with one
another the understanding and insight we have received. We are also encouraged
to share how we want to apply the meaning of the message in our personal
Christian life.
1. What three
practical ways can you keep your way pure before the LORD?
a. Mention these
three practical ways
b. Mention and
briefly discuss the steps under each way
2. How can you put
each into practice?
Each member should
briefly share with others how they intend to apply these practical ways in
their walk with God.

Message: Be Ye Perfect As Your Heavenly
Father Is Perfect
Grounding Scripture(s): Matthew 5: 20-48
Introduction
People tend to
have difficulties with the expression “Be Ye Perfect as Your Heavenly Father Is
Perfect”; these include even many well-meaning Christians. How can we be
perfect? They lament in disbelieve. They feel this is farfetched. Though the idea
entailed in the word “perfect” here well implies attainment of our being in the
end or the ideal completeness of our being, nevertheless, in us that will imply
spiritual growth. For in God, perfection is not attained, but exists eternally,
(John 3:16b). This makes every human
being a ‘seeker’ of God. If you are a seeker of God, you are a perfect man.
This is what Christ is talking about here.
What you must
know.
1.A growing
Christian (in the sense of seeking God) is being as perfect as his Heavenly
Father is perfect-1 Corinthians 2:6; Heb. 5:14.
It is in this
respect that God declared Noah as righteous in the old world in his generation-Gen.
6:9.
2. We draw near to
God’s Eternal nature, look into it, captivated by it and are transformed into perfect
men that God declares us to be-2 Corinthians 3:18. Heb. 12:-14.
3. To learn of
Christ is to be perfect as Father-Matthew 11:28-30. To walk with God is not to
burden ourselves. Therefore, when Jesus makes the above statement, it is not to
burden you. Learn from Him-Heb. 12:1-3.
Conclusion
Jesus’ call to
perfection indicates the life style of the Kingdom of God. This lifestyle is
not only for the future, but also in the now. The LORD Himself enables us by
His mercy and grace. Our part is to be willing seekers of God, will to walk
with God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Message: Jesus Has Called You To Live A
Catalytic Life!
Grounding Scripture(s): Matthew 5: 13-48;
Luke 14:34-35, Mark 9:49-50
Introduction
We will be looking at this piece of
scripture from a completely different perspective which was nonetheless prevalent
in Palestine during Jesus’ time on earth as the light of the world. He came and
created SPARKS everywhere. As a result He declares you the “salt to
earth and light of the world” initiating events or actions as kingdom people.
It is about time we led our life showcasing our true identity which is
catalytic nature.
The LORD Jesus has called us into a life
of “salt-light” which is our foretaste of the Kingdom life. Life in the
kingdom is not the kind that is insipid, lacking flavor, being only tasteless, bland,
weak, wishy-washy; unappetizing and unpalatable. Neither is it the kind that is
insipid, lacking vigor or interest, being only unimaginative, uninspired,
uninspiring, characterless, flat, uninteresting, lackluster, dull, drab,
boring, dry, humdrum, ho-hum, monochrome, tedious, uneventful, run-of-the-mill,
commonplace, pedestrian, trite, tired, hackneyed, stale, lame, colorless and
lifeless. No! Though it is not a life of comfort in the present time, yet Jesus
has called us into it; a life that SPARKS and sustains light. It is a life of
total dedication. I LOVE THIS LIVE! Comparing what Jesus is declaring to us in
Matthew 5:13-14; Luke 14:34-35, Mark 9:49-50, we see what the children of
Israel were called to work for has been given to us by our faith in Jesus. The
declaration that comes from Mount Sinai says: “I shall make you… if you…”
indication a condition attached to this declaration. While the declaration by
grace in Christ through faith says: “You are the “light of the world and salt
of the earth.” We must not be afraid to act when situations call for action. “Preach
the Word; be prepared in season and out of season…” (2 Timothy4:2).
Jesus
in this kind of life is identified as dangerous by the Pharisees and the
scribes. Rome finds Him to be seditious,
His actions and message threatening to the status quo. He never turns His back
on the Pharisees questions that seek to make mockery of His message and the
Kingdom. To the Rome, He says: “You have no power to save my life unless
it given to you from heaven” (John 19:11).
This is the
kind of life He has called us to. Jesus did not come to bring peace to the
earth, but sward (tension and sharp division) (Matt. 10:34-36); fight between
light and darkness, one’s worst enemy comes from his own household. Yet He
brings peace, but it is between God and man (Isaiah 9:6,Luke 2:14, andJohn 14:27). But those who oppose God will
constantly be at war with God (Col. 1:21).
In all this Jesus is never a law breaker.
Let
us see how He reacts to the Pharisees and the scribes when was accused by the
Pharisees and scribes for breaking the law.
He raises the
standard above that of the Pharisees and deals with the root of murder,
adultery and divorce, swearing, retributive justice and hatred towards others.
The intension of committing these acts could well exist independent of the acts
them. Jesus deals with heart and not just external acts which are the intents
of the heart.
1. The Sixth
Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill" vs. 21-26
2. The Seventh
Commandment "Thou shalt not commit adultery," vs. 27-32. 3. The Third
Commandment, "Thou shalt not take
the name of theLordthy God in vain; for theLordwill not hold him guiltless that
taketh his name in vain. Vs 33-37 Jesus deals with by saying that it is not by
God that we must not swear, but by not else.
4. He abolishes retributive justice-Lex
Talionis. Vs. 38-42
5. Above the
Pharisees’ standard, we must love those hate us. Vs. 43-48
You are the
salt of the earthen-oven; but if salt has lost its saltness (i.e., its ability
to facilitate the burning of dung), how shall its saltness (that ability) be
restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden
under foot by men.

Message: What Kind Of Life Has Christ
Called Us To?
Grounding Scripture(s): Matthew 5: 1-12
Introduction
Your acceptance of
the will of God concerning your lives is to embrace the life of blessedness
through Christ Jesus. This life shall fully be manifested when He that is
perfect appears. “For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the
perfect comes, the partial will be done away” (1 Corinthians 13:9-10). For this
reason we need to understand this life in the two contexts revealed to us in
the above scripture. Thus, even though we have this life, we experience it
partially and also fully by faith (look for to it in its fullness). “Now faith
is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by
it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the
worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not
made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:1-3
Jesus, on the
sermon on the mountain opens our eyes to this life. These are the expectations
of those who will be in the Kingdom He is calling you and me into. Let us take
a look at them.
1."Blessed
are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2. Blessed are
they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
3. Blessed are the
meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
4. Blessed are
they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
5. Blessed are the
merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
6. Blessed are the
pure of heart, for they shall see God.
7. Blessed are the
peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
8. Blessed are
they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
9. Blessed are you
when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against
you falsely on my account."
