“The Life Justified!”

Pastor Enoch Hanokh

“"To be justified means more than to be declared "not guilty." It actually means to be declared righteous before God. It means God has imputed or charged the guilt of our sin to His Son, Jesus Christ, and has imputed or credited Christ's righteousness to us."

Jerry Bridges

15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) Rom. 5:15-17

  1. Justified Life is a Life Based on a Gracious Act of God-Justification

§  It is irreversible: The question of sin is resolved

§  It gives right standing before God

§  It is not forgiveness

§  It is not pardon, with pardon the sin issue still remains: A pardoned criminal still bears his crime.

§  It is justification

  1. Mode of the justified Life

§  It is freely given to us at the cost of the life of the Son of God-Justified life can only be given to sinners.

§  It is received only by FAITH

§  By the shed blood of the Son of God

  1. Scope of the life justified

§  All men

§  It is the life that result in life of men

§  It is a new life

Questions:

1.  What are differences between these three words: forgiveness, pardon and justification?

2. How are we justified?

3. What are the particular ways Christian life exists?  (Ref. mode of the Christian life)

The Word for Living Ⅱ (John 6:60-71)

Message: John 6: 60-71

60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” 61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

“The Word for Living”

Pastor Enoch Hanokh

“Some people ignored the book, and some laughed at it, but for every word in Mein Kampf, 125 people died in World War II. Never underestimate the power of words.”

Warren W. Wiersbe,

  1. The Word of God is Light

§  To whom shall we go?-vs. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Ps. 119:105 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

§  Spiritual words

1 Cor. 2:12-14 12We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 14The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned, (Berean Study Bible).

§  It is the Spirit who gives life

2 Pet. 1:20-21 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,[a] 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God[b] spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim. 3:16 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

  1. The Word of God is Food

§  Living by the Word

John 4:32-34 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” 33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Matt. 4:4 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Ref. Deut. 8:3

Jer. 15:16 16 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.

§  Spiritual Maturity

2 Pet. 3:18 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

1 Pet. 2:2 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby

2 Cor. 3:1-3 3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? 2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

Heb. 5:11-14 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Questions:

  1. What do you think of the Word of God (the Bible)? How do you use it?
  2. Do you know that we all live by words? Whose words are you living by?

Weapons Against the Tricks of the Devil (Ephesians 6:10-20)

Message: Eph. 6: 10-20

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15sand having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

“Weapons Against the Tricks of the Devil”

Pastor Enoch Hanokh

  1. Standing Against the Tricks of the Devil-vv. 10-1

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. The power of His Might

  • He lied from the Beginning;

John 8:44 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

  1. The Scope of Our Warfare-vv.14-17

12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  • The Realms of  Heart and Mind;

2 Cor. 10:4-6 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

  1. Standing in Readiness for Spiritual Battle-vv.18-20

  • The armors and their functions;

The Belt of Truth;

John 8:32 32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The Breastplate of Righteousness;

Phil. 3:9 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Ps. 96:13 13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.

He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth.;

Jer. 23:6 6 In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Rom. 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The Shoe of the for the Preaching of the Gospel of Peace;

Luke 10:17-18 17 Then the seventy[d] returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

 Rom. 16:20 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

The Shield of Faith;

Ps. 28:7 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.

The Helmet of Salvation;

2 Tim. 1:7 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The Sward of the Spirit;

Heb. 4:12 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Questions:

  1. What is the scope of our spiritual warfare?
  2. Share with each other how the whole armor of God is used by believers.
