The
Best Teacher
John13:12-17
In Korea, we reflect on our teachers on Teacher's
Day. We often think about who are best Teachers were or which teachers impacted
us.
Hellen Keller's teacher. Sullivan, influenced
her and uplifted her during difficult times.
Jesus is our Lord and savior but He is also our
teacher.
John 13:16 ESV
[16] Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is
not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
Jesus showed us by example that we should serve
others. He also instructed us how to serve and explained why it is important to
serve.
Jesus' leadership is the highest form of leadership
which is driven by love.
Paul tells his readers 1 Corinthians 12 about
different gifts, and he ends the list of gifts with a promise of something better.
1 Corinthians 12:31 ESV
[31] But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And
I will show you a still more excellent way.
Paul tells us that the presence of love is needed
and desired more than all the gifts. Without love the gifts from God are useless.
1 Corinthians 13:1 ESV
[1] If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
We need to reflect on Jesus' life and how we should
live. His example of perfect servant leadership.
