"Who Is Jesus?"(John 6:30-35)

John 6:30-35

To live as followers of Christ, we need to know who Jesus is. Jesus is many things to us and using scriptures, we can have a deep understanding of who he really is.

Jesus is the Bread of Life

The crowds said that they wanted to see miracles so that they could believe in Jesus. The real purpose these people wanted other benefits but not a relationship with Jesus.

So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

John 6:30-31 ESV

When Jesus explains how the bread God gives is life, they ask for this bread.

They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”

John 6:34 ESV

At this point, Jesus needs to explain clearly to the masses that He is the life sustaining bread.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

John 6:35 ESV

But the people show us that they want something else and not the relationship with God when Jesus tells them that He is this bread.

At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

John 6:41-42 ESV

Jesus came to the world as light.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12 ESV

Darkness is not bad, but when we are living in darkness we are lost and do not know who we are. When we step into the light we see where we are and who we are. We can see the sin in our lives. We can now see the problem. Once we see the problem, we can find a solution. If we do not see the problem, we will never solve it. Some people step into the light and then hide in the darkness because they do not like to what they.

Jesus is eternal.

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

John 8:58 ESV

The only thing that lasts forever is Jesus. Jesus is going to hold you forever.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:28 ESV

Jesus is going satisfy us eternally. He will keep us clean. Jesus has already given us eternal life. In fact, we received eternal life when we accepted Jesus. This is the same eternal Jesus who is going to sustain us and see us through to the full completion.
