"Kingdom Citizen"(Luke 12:22-34)

 Luke 12:22-34

Among Christians, the following verse provides much comfort and yet many misunderstand.

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!

Luke 12:24 ESV

God will take care of us, but we still need to try our best. Even ravens will fly around looking for food. They do not just sit waiting for food to drop into their beaks. Animals still need to fulfil their purpose if they are to be fed, and people are no different. Christians still need to do something to be sustained. The first thing that we need to do is to do everything in faith. God created us with His image in us. He loves us more than any of his other creations. We need to trust God while we work and live in this world

But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!

Luke 12:28 ESV

The second thing we need to do is to love our neighbors. Jesus tells us to sell our belongings and give to others. If we really understood and admitted that everything comes from God, we would not worry when we give away our possessions and wealth. Many people see that it is their efforts that create their wealth and do not give credit to God. Christians need to understand that God provided everything to them.

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Luke 12:33 ESV

As believers, we are already loved and do not need to work to be loved. As believers, we live for God because we believe that God has given us everything already. We show our love through obedience.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Philippians 2:12-13 ESV

All religions mention some sort of life after death. Some Christians concentrate only on the finite physical world and do not think of their eternal life. They carefully plan and work at their life's plan and ignore eternal life. Yet, the turning point in our lives when we believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. If Christ is in us, we will see the world as Christ sees it and start to understand why we need to focus on eternal life.

Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Luke 12:31 ESV

To avoid worrying we need to live our lives as people who trust God, love God and love our neighbors through our deeds.
